About the band

Performing on a wide variety of period instruments, Dorian Mirth specializes in Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and European Folk genres, and endeavors to both authentically recreate and creatively re-imagine historic music. The band is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is comprised of close friends drawn together by their love of music, movies, history, costuming, and all things Tolkien-related.

About our Name

"Dorian" is the name of one of the modes, or scales, commonly used in music from the 5th century A.D. through the 1600s.

"Mirth" is from the Old English "myrgth" which means joyousness, festivity, jollity, that which causes merriment!
